German Speaking Operations Manager

Job Description

Do you have excellent knowledge of working overseas as a resort representative or resort manager? Do you have fluency in German? A leading educational travel company based in Brighton require a German Speaking Operations Manager to be responsible for the operational delivery of the overseas programme within a specified destination. Ensure that overseas staff are managed effectively within budgets and operating in accordance with company standards and manage relationships with overseas suppliers daily.


* Interview and present at overseas recruitment days

* Attend and assist at training days for overseas staff

* Manage and motivate a team of peak season representatives both 'on the ground' and

* Compile peak season representative information packs and impart information in a timely and efficient manner

* Implement and run a training programme for new staff within the team overseas

* Deliver in-house training to Office staff esp. Sales and PD on destinations within areas of expertise

* Compile and maintain a database to ensure that all supplements are accurate and transparent to all

* Co-ordinate and process supplier invoices for matching / checking and payment by the Accounts Department

* Manage the operational float, budget and cash flow over the changing demands of the season

* Manage the logistics of all overseas tours to ensure that 'on the ground' support is provided where necessary

* Travel overseas as required

* Be the main point of contact for both suppliers and peak season representatives while groups are travelling

* Plan, co-ordinate and manage inspection visits and staff educational visits alongside

* Duty office phone support cover as and when required

* Quality check all tour itineraries to ensure they are operationally feasible

* Have input to and implement a standard operating procedure for all overseas operations

* Represent the company as required, for conference, sales shows, to schools or overseas events


* Must have experience within the travel industry, school travel industry an advantage

* Worked overseas as a Resort Representative, Resort Rep, Area Manager or Operations Manager

Fluency in German

* Proven and demonstrable influencing, negotiation and presentation skills

* Ability to use initiative and think logically and logistically

* Ability to remain calm and deliver excellent customer service even under pressure

* Experience of leading, developing and motivating others

* Flexibility to travel overseas and work evenings, weekends and additional hours when operations dictate

* A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

* Full driving license
