GL Accountant

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Process Responsibility

  • Independent preparation of entries/reports/schedules needed to complete a timely financial close;
  • Investigation and effective resolution of accounting and technical errors;
  • Solid understanding of GFS internal structure and systems;
  • Active ownership of GL activities for assigned company codes;
  • Maintenance of an effective internal control framework around General Ledger, closing and financial reporting activities;
  • Effective, clear, and confident communication, adding value to all interactions;
  • Strive for high levels of customer service
  • Maintain good working relationships within the respective process team and with other GFS teams
  • Deliver service in line with agreed controls and procedures

Reporting & Accounting Period Close

  • Independent month-end closing activities
  • Solid understanding of inter-departmental  and cross-team dependencies
  • Timely reconciliations observing all deadlines
  • Accuracy of all entries and Reconciliations in accordance with GAAP, Compliance, Internal Audit and SOX requirements;

 

Accountabilities

Accurately perform GL activities to a high standard of quality

  • Other GFS Teams – AP/I2C/Reporting/IC/Inventory/Master Data
  • GFS Compliance Team
  • Internal Customers
  • Other GL Teams

 

Requierements:

  • Experience in accounting is an advantage
  • Fluency in English plus another language is an advantage
  • Experience in SAP and JDE accounting systems preferable
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, advanced excel knowledge
  • Customer oriented person
  • Problem solving skills necessary
  • Independent
  • Good stress management
  • SSC experience advantage
  • Ability to prioritise and schedule workload
  • Ability to build and establish a good working relationship with colleagues – great communication skills
