Purchasing Manager Retail Fittings - Temporary - Utrecht area

Job Description

Our client, an international and well-known company located in the Utrecht area, is currently looking for a motivated and pro-active Manager, Purchasing whose main task is the procurement of all direct supply construction materials, fixtures and fittings for the company's store rollout. Being part of a great team and working in a fast-paced environment, the Manager, Purchasing is in charge of maximizing cost efficiency and availability of all direct supply items whilst keeping quality and service at a high level, to manage European supply chain and to optimize sales and in-store customer experience, whilst achieving corporate standards.

Main Tasks

  • Familiarize with our client's store and team and understand current procurement processes and the evolution history
  • Identify fixture and fitting requirements for new store design and source vendors to provide products of the requisite quality at the best price within budget
  • Develop the budget for direct supply items and accurately track the cost of purchased materials
  • Manage the issue of purchase orders and processing of all invoices in a timely and effective way
  • Identify new and manage existing vendors to negotiate supply terms for the company's stores to meet timelines and budgets
  • Negotiate bulk term supply deals with vendors to provide our client with improved cost and product availability
  • Manage fixture database to enable exact costing and equipment inventory by store
  • Continually value engineer all products used in the company's stores to achieve the lowest possible cost whilst maintaining competitive life cycle costs and complying in every respect with the design concept and agreed quality standards
  • Be point of contact for suppliers of directly purchased materials
  • Be point of contact for review and development of fixtures
  • Work with internal teams to determine effectiveness of fixtures and fixture roll out program
  • Work with Store Planning Manager to update fixture manual as required
  • Distribute direct supply items to stores whilst maintaining adequate insurance and to the required timescales
  • Provide a weekly fixture schedule covering all stores
  • Provide a weekly cost summary
  • Procure direct supply materials and fixtures for each store
  • Ensure all suppliers carrying out work on site comply with all applicable health and safety laws
  • Carry out vendor/contractor/consultant assessments and maintain a database of approved suppliers
  • Develop and publish contract documentation for use with suppliers and ensure that all suppliers are correctly legally contracted in accordance with our client's legal standards
  • Consider life cycle and maintenance costs of all products procured


  • Bachelor level education or professional qualification such as MCIPS or relevant business degree
  • Project management and negotiation skills in the retail industry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of product design and store planning
  • Extensive experience in Excel, Access, MS Word is required
  • Basic experience in CAD
  • Knowledge of contract law, supply chain management and distribution
  • Fluent in English, any other European language is a benefit.
